Khan Sir and Guru Rahman Detained During Protest Against BPSC Normalisation Policy.
Civil service applicants in Bihar took to the thoroughfares, demanding clarity on the controversial “ normalisation ” policy for the forthcoming primary test, listed for December 13. The protesters asserted that BPSC Chairperson R.B. Parmar had not provided a definitive written statement on the issue of normalisation. Parmar issue a written statement attesting the policy would not be applied.
Among those who joined the demurrers were two of Patna’s most famed preceptors — Faizal Khan, popularly known as Khan Sir, and Motiur Rahman Khan, also called Guru Rahman. Both were detained by police on Friday as pressures escalated.
The kick turned chaotic when the police used lathi charges to disperse the crowd, detaining several other protesters as well.
So, what is “normalisation,” and why has it sparked so much controversy?
The process is meant to address differences in difficulty across question papers when examinations are conducted in multiple shifts. However, scores can be acclimated to position the playing field, If one shift gets a harder paper. While it might sound fair in proposition, applicants argue it’s defective, especially for an test like this.
BPSC Secretary Satya Prakash Sharma tried to quell enterprises, saying the test would be held in a single shift, and no decision about normalisation had been blazoned. still, the lack of a clear, written assurance has left scholars skeptical.
Khan Sir didn’t hold back when speaking to journalists. “ This isn’t mathematics, where precision rules,” he remarked. “This is General Studies—complex and subjective by nature. Applying normalisation then would be absurd and illegal, potentially stealing meritorious campaigners of their success. ”
The issue has created a significant peak, with scholars demanding translucency and officers yet to give the definitive answers they seek. With the test date presto approaching, the standoff remains undetermined, leaving thousands of applicants anxious about their future.
