Five Terrorists Neutralized in Intense Kulgam Encounter: Security Forces Strike Back
In a decisive operation, security forces successfully eliminated five terrorists during an intense gunfight in South Kashmir’s Kulgam district on Thursday. Acting on precise intelligence inputs, the Indian Army and Jammu and Kashmir Police launched a joint operation in the Kadder area, targeting suspected militant hideouts.
The encounter intensified when the terrorists, confronted by security personnel, initiated a barrage of gunfire. In response, the forces launched a swift and calculated counterattack, decisively turning the tide. Sharing details of the operation, the Indian Army’s Chinar Corps posted on X, “Alert troops identified suspicious movements. Upon being challenged, the terrorists unleashed indiscriminate fire. Our forces responded with precision and effectiveness. The mission remains in progress.”
This encounter adds to a series of recent counter-terrorism successes in Jammu and Kashmir. Earlier this month, security forces neutralized a terrorist linked to multiple civilian killings, including the brutal Gagangir attack.
October proved particularly challenging, with a series of violent incidents. The most harrowing was an attack at a tunnel construction site in Ganderbal district, where seven lives were lost, including a doctor and laborers from Bihar. These attacks have heightened security concerns in the region.
National Conference leader Farooq Abdullah voiced alarm over the escalating violence, suggesting a deliberate attempt to destabilize the newly formed government under Omar Abdullah. Calling for an impartial probe, he emphasized the need to address the root causes of the unrest.
While the situation remains volatile, the determination of security forces underscores their commitment to safeguarding the region and ensuring peace prevails amidst rising challenges.
