Posting on his unverified X account, Aulia clarified, “I am Zakir Hussain’s nephew, and the reports of his passing are untrue. We urge everyone to pray for his recovery and refrain from spreading misinformation. He is in a critical state, and your prayers are deeply needed at this time.”
In an interview with PTI, Hussain’s sister, Khursheed, addressed the rumors, saying, “My brother is critically ill but very much alive. We appeal to his fans worldwide to pray for his recovery. It’s deeply upsetting to witness false information spreading while he is battling such a serious condition.”

The 73-year-old music legend has been admitted to the ICU at a hospital in San Francisco due to heart and blood pressure-related issues. His close friend, Rakesh Chaurasia, confirmed the worrying development, saying, “Zakir ji is unwell and under intensive care. We’re all deeply concerned.”
Nirmala Bachani, his manager, shared that Zakir Hussain has been undergoing medical treatment for the past two weeks.She confirmed, “He’s hospitalized in San Francisco for a heart condition and is under close observation.”
Despite these clarifications, false reports about Hussain’s death spread like wildfire, causing unnecessary panic and grief. Politicians such as Rahul Gandhi and Yogi Adityanath, along with millions of fans, mistakenly shared condolences online. Journalist Pervaiz Alam later clarified, “After speaking with his brother-in-law on December 15, I can confirm that the family has not verified any such reports.”
