Noida International Airport: A Dream 23 Years in the Making Takes Flight Today
Today is no ordinary day for Jewar in Gautam Buddha Nagar. After years of planning, hard work, and anticipation, the Noida International Airport is set to witness its first aircraft trial. For the first time, a commercial aircraft will land on the airport’s brand-new runway. A plane from the Airports Authority of India (AAI) will take off from Delhi, reach Noida International Airport in just 10 minutes, and circle above the airport for about 90 minutes to conduct safety and operational checks. Only after everything is thoroughly reviewed will it make its historic touchdown.

The airport’s 3,900-meter-long, 60-meter-wide runway is fully equipped and ready to impress. Advanced systems like CAT-1 and CAT-3, designed to aid navigation during fog or low visibility, have been installed. The Instrument Landing System (ILS), essential for smooth and precise landings, underwent rigorous testing back in October, ensuring everything is set for today’s trial.
