Shimla Turns into a Winter Wonderland Just in Time for Christmas
Shimla donned its festive winter coat on Monday, delighting both locals and tourists with a magical snowfall. Starting with a gentle flurry around 11 a.m., the snow soon blanketed the hill town in white, turning the streets and rooftops into a picturesque Christmas card scene.
Tourists, many of whom had planned their visit to coincide with the holiday season, couldn’t contain their excitement. Dancing, laughing, and capturing the mesmerizing snowfall on their cameras, they embraced the unexpected treat. A family from Mohali, originally planning to head home, decided to extend their stay. “We just couldn’t leave now! It feels like we’re living in a dream,” one family member gushed.
The snowfall wasn’t confined to Shimla alone. Nearby destinations like Kufri and Fagu also experienced a wintery makeover, much to the joy of visitors flocking to these spots for snow-covered adventures.
According to the meteorological department, the snow isn’t quite done yet. Forecasts suggest that light to moderate snow is expected to continue in Shimla and surrounding regions, with districts like Kinnaur and Lahaul-Spiti likely to witness more white magic.
However, the cold wave accompanying this weather will tighten its icy grip on several parts of Himachal Pradesh, making woolens and warm beverages essential companions for the days ahead.
Whether you’re a local savoring the charm of a snowy Shimla or a tourist making memories in the frosty wonderland, the snow has undoubtedly added a special sparkle to this holiday season.
