Tragedy in Mumbai: Actor’s Car Fatally Runs Over Metro Workers
A late-night accident in Mumbai’s Kandivli turned fatal when a car owned by popular Marathi actor Urmila Kothare ran over two labourers working on a Metro project. The incident, near the Poisar Metro station, left one labourer dead on the spot and another critically injured.
Police reports indicate that the Hyundai Verna, driven at high speed by Ms. Kothare’s driver, lost control and struck the workers. The actor, returning from a shoot, was in the passenger seat when the accident occurred.
The crash also injured the driver severely, while Ms. Kothare sustained minor injuries, saved by the timely deployment of the car’s airbag. The surviving labourer has been hospitalized, and investigations are underway to determine the exact cause of the mishap.
This tragic incident highlights the perils of high-speed driving and the vulnerability of workers at roadside construction sites.
