Zomato Introduces ‘District’: A New App to Dominate the “Going-Out” Scene

Zomato has officially launched District, its latest consumer-facing app designed to redefine the “going-out” experience. Building on its food delivery and quick-commerce success, this marks Zomato’s third major venture, offering a centralized platform for booking movie tickets, live events, dining, shopping, sports, staycations, and more. The app is available on iOS and Android, with movie and event ticketing as its initial features.

To bolster District, Zomato recently acquired Paytm Insider, Paytm’s entertainment wing, for ₹2,048 crore, positioning itself as a strong competitor to BookMyShow, which leads India’s online ticketing market. This strategic move is part of Zomato’s broader vision to integrate its Dining-out and Zomato Live businesses, creating a seamless ecosystem for entertainment and leisure.

With consistent growth, Zomato recorded a ₹176 crore net profit in Q2 FY24, marking its fifth consecutive profitable quarter. Revenue soared by 69% year-over-year to ₹4,799 crore, signaling the company’s readiness to excel in the competitive “going-out” market with District.
